About Microdermabrasion

Sun exposure, stress, smoking, plus the general wear and tear of time can cause your skin to develop imperfections and look dull. However, with noninvasive skin treatments at Renovation Medical Spa, like microdermabrasion, you can refresh your complexion. Microdermabrasion is a mechanical resurfacing technique that can also be coupled with other skin treatments, like a glycolic peel, to tackle the flaws at the skin's surface level by treating the outer most layer of skin. Acne, dead skin cells, and sun damage can be cleared away from the arms, hands, back, neck, and chest on all skin tones and types. Regular microdermabrasion treatments at Renovation in Reno, Nevada can help anyone who wants to refresh their skin without time-consuming treatments that are invasive. Microdermabrasion can also help patients of board-certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Charles P. Virden maintain their results after cosmetic surgeries and procedures. There are two different microdermabrasions that you can choose from at Renovation:

Rx Dermaglow

A medical-based Microdermabrasion resurfacing of the skin; very effective for acne, congested skin, scarring and sun damage. This skin rejuvenation procedure is coupled with a glycolic peel prior to the Microdermabrasion.

  • Face: 1 Hour – $160
  • Arms and Hands: 45 Minutes – $170
  • Back: 1 Hour – $225
  • Neck and Chest: (added to face) Additional 20 Minutes + $30

Rx Dermaglow Treatment

This is an advanced skin rejuvenating procedure that exfoliates imperfect skin layers & invigorates cell renewal without downtime. This treatment includes extractions (if needed), a selected Rx infusion treatment, soothing mask, relaxing upper body massage, hydration and sun protection.

  • 1 Hour – $195

Best Candidates

The best candidates for microdermabrasion:

  • Have any skin type and color
  • Have skin concerns, such as fine lines and wrinkles, aged skin, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, minor scars, or uneven skin tone and texture
  • Want better-looking, more radiant skin
  • Do not want an invasive surgical procedure
  • Have realistic outcomes

What to Expect

The patient’s face will be thoroughly cleaned prior to the procedure. A stream of fine particles will be sprayed onto the patient’s face to essentially polish the skin through a special handpiece. In the process, dead skin cells and other debris will be suctioned away by the microderm system. Microdermabrasion also stimulates the skin’s production of collagen and elastin, which will increase skin health and firmness for several months after the treatment. Treatment can take 30 – 60 minutes to complete.

Other Considerations

There’s no downtime with microdermabrasion, but the skin will look pink and may feel dry and tight for about a day after treatment. Moisturizer should be applied to alleviate these side effects and sunscreen should be used to protect the new skin. There will be immediate results after microdermabrasion as patients notice smoother, brighter, and more even-toned skin. For full results, 5 – 12 treatments are recommended every 2 – 3 weeks. Adding a chemical peel before or after a microdermabrasion can dramatically boost results.
