Fatty deposits under the chin can create the impression of a double chin, even when a person is otherwise in good shape. Even with additional dieting, it is rare to see improvement in this area because the excess fat is usually caused by genetics. However, with the innovative Kybella injection, the fat can be reduced for a more sculpted jawline. Kybella injections are performed at our Virden MD practice next door. The Kybella injection is one of the most exciting new developments in the cosmetic world. It is an injectable that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to break down fatty deposits in the submental area (the upper neck just below the chin). The active ingredient is called deoxycholic acid, a substance that eliminates fat cells. The treatment is also effective for improving the contour of the neckline. Schedule a consultation at Renovation Medical Spa in Reno, Nevada with board-certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Charles Virden to learn more about the results you can achieve with the Kybella injection.

Patients who can benefit from Kybella:
Kybella treated are performed in our office as an outpatient procedure without anesthesia. Once the neck is cleaned and the injection sites are marked, numbing cream will be applied to the area to make the treatment more comfortable. Once the patient is prepared, several small injections of Kybella will be placed into the submental area below the chin. Each treatment should take about 15 – 20 minutes and patients may have up to 6 treatment sessions spaced one month apart for improved results.
After the treatment, patients may want to apply an ice pack to their neck to reduce swelling and redness, but they should be able to resume their normal activities after leaving our office. Side effects, including mild discomfort, may last for a few days after the treatment, but patients should contact our office if they have any concerns or lasting problems. Patients should see some change after their first treatment once the body has eliminated the broken down fat. During their consultation, patients can discuss how many treatments they may need.
Average Cost: $600 – $9,600
