Traditional injection techniques are done by injecting the filler parallel to the contours of the lip, which can produce suboptimal results. With lip tenting, on the other hand, the injections are made at a nearly vertical angle into the white roll of the lip. Lip tenting allows for more precise control over the volume and shape of the lips, providing better results. WHAT TO EXPECT
After a thorough consultation, Volbella can often be injected during the same appointment or scheduled for another day. Volbella, like all Juvéderm injectable treatments, contains a mild anesthetic (lidocaine) in the formula to make patients more comfortable during the injections. The Volbella will be carefully injected into the lips after they have been cleaned until the patient’s goals are achieved. The added volume and smoothness provided by Volbella treatments can last up to one year and can be maintained with touch-up injections.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
After Volbella injections, patients are able to leave and resume their normal activities, but should avoid strenuous activities and exercise for at least 24 hours. After treatment, patients may have mild swelling or redness in areas that were injected with Volbella, but this shouldn’t last more than one month. Full results will be visible in about 2 – 4 weeks.
