Microdermabrasion FAQ's

What is a Microdermabrasion Facial?

Microdermabrasion, also known as dermabrasion, is a minimally invasive, no downtime, treatment that exfoliates the skin utilizing a surgical stainless-steel instrument.  This treatment improves tone and texture of the face, neck, and body.  Once the surface cells are removed, your Aesthetician will follow with a nourishing and hydrating facial.  The medical grade products used will be able to penetrate the skin better leaving you with a smother, brighter glow!

How Do I Prepare for My Microdermabrasion?

Just like with any other facial, there’s a cleanse, prep and treat beforehand to soften the skin and open the pores. Then, using a handheld device with a suction attachment, a mild abrasion targets specific areas of the skin.

The device uses surgical grade stainless steel to remove dead skin cells while also simultaneously vacuuming up any excess crystals. This stimulates circulation to the epidermal layers of the skin, and drives nutrients and oxygen to the epidermis.

Once the treatment is done, we’ll use a cool towel to sweep away any excess crystals.

How Do I Take Care of My Skin After Microdermabrasion?

For the first 24 hours after a dermabrasion Facial, keep the treated area cool and protected from sun exposure. Use a gentle cleanser and a moisturizer morning and night. Always use SPF 30 or higher when in the sun; remember, hats, sunglasses, and sun shields are helpful too.

Who is a good candidate for a Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is generally safe for all skin types and is a great treatment option for those with mild concerns with their complexion. This treatment benefits many skin imperfections such as fines lines, mild age spots and/or discoloration, and acneic, oily, or dull looking skin.  You are not a good candidate for a dermabrasion if you have open wounds or undiagnosed lumps/lesions, an active cold sore outbreak, rosacea, or eczema to the treatment area.
